5G/6G Wireless Communications
ASE develops and offers advanced packaging solutions critical to the successful development, deployment, and advancement of 5G/6G and beyond.
In today’s communications environment, 5G wireless technology is deemed the de facto standard that offers higher speed, lower latency and larger capacity than earlier generations of network technologies. Indeed, advancements in 5G technology has accelerated developments across a wide range of applications in mobile communications, smart manufacturing, mobility and transportation, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and more. Even before the maturity of 5G, research and development of next generation 6G technology is already underway. Widespread rollout of 6G wireless technology is projected to happen in 2030, and we can expect a quantum leap in connectivity and communication by then.
Driving these developments are semiconductor technologies that enable robust chip designs to power high-performance and highly efficient devices and applications. Emerging technologies will continue to challenge the parameters of chip manufacturing while at the same time, drive greater innovation to improve performance, reliability and cost efficiencies.
5G mmWave Packaging Solutions
mmWave (millimeter wave) have shorter wavelengths and higher frequencies of between 28 to 100 gHz. This translates into wider bandwidths and faster networks, capable of carrying large capacity of data. Globally, many countries are actively supporting 5G mmWave roll outs with network infrastructures and smartphone manufacturers integrating mmWave components into their systems and devices. At ASE, our leadership in Heterogeneous Integration helps upgrade end-user experience and our innovations in IC packaging will refine the landscape for future generations of wireless technologies including 6G.
ASE’s System-in-Packaging Solutions enable chip designs for smartphones, wearables and networks that support 5G mmWave frameworks.
When paired with 5G RF modem systems, 5G mmWave RF transceiver modules packaged by ASE, deliver superior 5G performance, outstanding uplink and downlink speeds, have higher transmission power and energy saving features. These mmWave modules cover a wide spectrum of 24GHz, 26GHz, 28GHz and 39GHz frequency bands.
ASE applies multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) antenna technology in highly integrated packaging solutions to achieve cellular network speed and capacity with low latency.
