ASE Kaohsiung Receives Smart Energy Certification
Kaohsiung, Taiwan. April 8, 2022. ASE is pleased to announce that its K24 IT facility in Kaohsiung has received the Data Center Energy Efficiency: Gold certification issued by the Taiwan Smart Energy Industry Association (TaiSEIA), becoming the first company in Taiwan to achieve the verification.
Smart technology has accelerated the process of digital transformation and shaped developments in smart manufacturing that help companies enhance competitiveness and meet market demands. Data centers are critical operations that provide real-time analysis and communication in smart manufacturing environments. Data centers require high-speed connectivity with reliable and stable networks, and are extremely energy intensive.
At ASE, our data centers are designed to reduce our environmental impact through efficient energy utilization. The ASE K24 IT operation has achieved a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.51, lower than the international benchmark of between 1.8 to 2.1. PUE measures efficiency in power usage. A PUE of 2.0 means that for every watt of IT power, an additional watt is consumed to cool and distribute power to the IT equipment. The measurement for ASE indicates that a majority of the energy is used for computing. Our total energy savings are also approximately 16-28% higher than the average reported international measurements.
Throughout our global operations, we are focused on promoting sustainable development by combining energy conservation and energy transformation. ASE is expanding its smart factory and smart grid footprint through ‘energy saving’, ‘green energy’ and ‘energy storage’ approaches. We will continue to implement low carbon solutions and work with our supply chain partners towards net zero goals.
