ASE Receives 2016 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards
Taipei, Taiwan, November 23, 2016 – Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc (ASE, TAIEX: 2311, NYSE: ASX), the leading provider of semiconductor assembly and test services, today announced that it has received the Top 50 Corporate Sustainability Report Award, Climate Leadership Award and Supply Chain Sustainability Leadership Award at the 2016 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) event organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE).
The judging criteria of the corporate sustainability report award is based on internationally acclaimed standards, such as the GRI G4 and ACCA. Receipt of the award demonstrates that ASE practices corporate information transparency and provides timely and accurate disclosures on its annual reports and website.
Sustainable Development Go als (SDG) form a major part of ASE’s long-term sustainability strategy. Since 2015, ASE has built a strong sustainability leadership team and engaged the expertise of certified professionals and academia to guide the company in its sustainability development.
This year, ASE also received the Climate Leadership and Supply Chain Sustainability Leadership awards, in recognition for its leadership in promoting low carbon output, reducing greenhouse gas and carbon emissions and its conscientious efforts to build a sustainable and ethical supply chain.
To demonstrate the company’s commitment to a low carbon and climate resilient growth, ASE was the first company in Asia to issue a $300 million Green Bond in 2014. The proceeds raised via the green bond were invested in projects meeting high environmental standards, including green buildings, energy efficiency enhancement and water recycling.
In February 2015, ASE joined the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) as an applicant member. Membership in the EICC underscores the significant strides ASE has taken in enhancing its commitment to environmental and social go vernance, both within ASE’s operations as well as throughout its broader supply chain. ASE also organizes annual supplier forums and award ceremonies to communicate with and support its suppliers on sustainability development programs.
