ASE Kaohsiung Facility – Production Lines Continue Operation Normally

Taipei, August 04, 2014 – Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc, (TAIEX: 2311, NYSE: ASX)the world’s largest outsourced semiconductor assembly and test company, announces today that the management and staff of the company would like to extend their deepest condolences to the families and victims of the fatal gas explosions that occurred in the late hours of Thursday, July 31 in the city of Kaohsiung.

228 of our employees in Kaohsiung who were residing in the vicinity were affected by the explosions. On the morning of August 1, ASE Kaohsiung has already set up an employee emergency help center to provide immediate medical, insurance and legal aid as well as temporary accommodation to all the affected employees and their families.

The ASE Group established its first factory in the city of Kaohsiung 30 years ago and has since expanded our Kaohsiung operations to over 20, 000 employees. It is our duty to help and support the city during this difficult period. The ASE Foundation has donated NTD15 million (USD500, 000) and 860 LED handheld torchlights in aid of the disaster recovery efforts. Our employees from Kaohsiung, Chung Li, Nantou as well as overseas have also volunteered personal donations to help those who have lost their loved ones and their homes.

ASE will continue to work with the local community to support relief efforts and contribute to the rebuilding of the homes and businesses in the disaster area.
