ASE receives GSMA SAS-UP accreditation, demonstrating commitment to data security and enhancing the company’s offerings for 5G mobile technologies
Kaohsiung, Taiwan, September 22, 2021 – The arrival of 5G technology characterized by its fast connectivity, low latency and high bandwidth, has enabled the rise of the internet of everything and transformed the way we communicate. In today’s digital world, where we generate and process huge amounts of information, protecting and ensuring the integrity of data has become a top enterprise focus. As a premier semiconductor service provider, ASE is continuously deploying new technology to accelerate its digital transformation. Data privacy and the protection of information assets are of paramount importance at ASE, and to that end, the company has actively participated in strategic programs including certification from internationally acclaimed organizations. In 2015, ASE Kaohsiung was the first OSAT facility to receive the ISO 15408-EAL 6 certification. The ISO 15408 is a framework that outlines the criteria for globally recognized standards and security inspections for IT products, with EAL 7 being the most stringent criteria set for product evaluations. It is designed for products and applications that are targeted for high security-intensive markets, such as the government, banking or defense sectors.
Today, ASE is proud to announce that in August 2021, ASE Kaohsiung has obtained the GSMA SAS-UP certification. The GSMA Security Accreditation Scheme for UICC* Production is a voluntary scheme through which UICC suppliers subject their operational sites to a comprehensive security audit to ensure that adequate security measures to protect the interests of mobile network operators have been implemented. The certification enables ASE to fulfill manufacturing requirements under the eSIM (embedded SIM) architecture specification, ensuring a high level of security for eSIM products. The eSIM has grown in popularity as a built-in solution for mobile connectivity in consumer and IoT devices. As opposed to traditional SIM cards, eSIM allows a high level of flexibility and has numerous application advantages. The eSIM can be easily customized and is not limited to a single service provider. Together with the major shifts fueled by 5G, eSIM creates business opportunities that extend mobile connectivity to a diverse array of internet-enabled devices designed for healthcare, smart homes, automotive, logistics, handheld POS and more.
User experience is a key consideration in ASE’s approach to technology innovation and strategy to fulfill the needs of the market. ASE has an extensive advanced packaging, material and test portfolio to support chip design and heterogeneous integration that fully supports the development of Smart Homes, Smart Transportation, Smart Cities and various IoT applications.
Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) combined with AI and big data analysis have laid the foundation for diversity and innovation to drive the upgrading and maturity of the semiconductor industry. ASE is all set to play a leading role in smart technology developments and shaping an intelligent future that will benefit mankind.
